After the Australian Chamber Orchestra's Vivid festival success, Timeline, a multimedia romp through 40,000 years of music starring the Presets, comes Intimate Letters, a dramatic collaboration with Bell Shakespeare, combining the drama of the stage with the sumptuous classical sounds of the ACO.
Intimate Letters is inspired by more than 700 passionate letters written between the composer Leos Janacek and his much younger, married muse, Kamila. The show explores his overwhelming and obsessive love for her with actors Marshall Napier (Underbelly, Love Child) and Ella Scott Lynch (Underbelly, Home & Away), playing the two characters and telling their scandalous tale.
The ACO's theatrical staging of Janek's first quartet, the Kreutzer Sonata, received glowing reviews in 2010, and with the Orchestra being led by London Symphony Orchestra concertmaster Gordan Nikolic (a real coup for the ACO), expect Intimate Letters to be equally as memorable.
Mozart, Divertimento in F, K.138
Smetana, String Quartet No.1 "From My Life" (arr. for string orchestra)
